Rotary Club of Phnom Penh is feeling blissful.

Rotary Club of Phnom Penh
Phew, what a week we just had – 6 Rotary Project deliveries in 6 days – add to that the days of prepartations negotiating and buying produce, bicycles, books and travelling too and fro... that really was an amazing time to be together working with a fantastic bunch of people. In Cambodia the members of Rotary are very privileged to be trusted with money raised by clubs in other parts of the world. The money is entrusted to our club to distribute to the very needy in this country that has suffered so much. If you come to Cambodia it’s easy to be confused as now there is a 2 speed demographic intermingled with a rapidly rising middle class. But often hidden and somewhat lost, there still remains a large proportion of the population in poverty and it’s our job to find and distribute various items that can assist these people. This last week has been all about achieving this goal and I’m so proud of my fellow members in what we have jointly delivered on behalf of our partner clubs. Those clubs are Rotary Clubs from Bendigo South, Victoria and Sarasota Bay, Florida; Cupertino, Califiornia… PLUS individual friends of one of our members from Canada – a HUGE shoutout and thanks to all those people who work so hard to come up with these funds and for working with us. In 6 days the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh has conducted 6 project deliveries achieving the following:Kompong Svay, Kandal - 20 bicycles for kids who live more than 3 km from school- 2 boxes of library books- 30 Food parcelsPhnom Penh- 1 box of library books Siem Reap - 1 box of library books Siem Reap- 1 box of library booksSiem Reap - 1 box of library books Siem Reap- 20 bicycles- 20 food parcels- 1 box of library booksWorking amongst these people and seeing how grateful they are for what we are giving them is some of the most rewarding moments of my life, and I know my fellow Rotarians feel the same. The bicycle and library project is supported with $1,000 by the Rotary Foundation. ... See MoreSee Less
